Synopsis: Alosa's mission is finally complete. Not only has she recovered all three pieces of the map to a legendary hidden treasure, but the pirates who originally took her captive are now prisoners on her ship. Still unfairly attractive and unexpectedly loyal, first mate Riden is a constant distraction, but now he's under her orders. And she takes great comfort in knowing that the villainous Vordan will soon be facing her father's justice.
When Vordan exposes a secret her father has kept for years, Alosa and her crew find themselves in a deadly race with the feared Pirate King. Despite the danger, Alosa knows they will recover the treasure first . . . after all, she is the daughter of the Siren Queen.

My Review
It is very rare that I like a sequel more than the first book, but this is one of those rare cases because Daughter of the Siren Queen was absolutely fantastic. I enjoyed it more than I did the first book, and I desperately don't want this story to be over yet.
Alosa finally has all three pieces of the map, now its time to embark on the adventure alongside her father to retrieve the treasures kept hidden by the sirens. But when her prisoner reveals a secret, that her father has a secret weapon to control not only Alosa but all the other sirens, Alosa does the only thing she knows how to do, she snoops in her father's study. What she finds there, changes her whole perspective of her father and Alosa decides to beat her father and take the treasure for herself, but no one escapes the Pirate King that easily.
I fell in love with Alosa in the first book, but now we get to see a whole new side of her and I honestly fell in love with her even more. She is still the same sassy girl that you've gotten to know, but now that she is on her own ship and among her crew, you get to see the side of her that really cares for her friends and just how much she would do for them to protect their lives. Alosa honestly makes the perfect captain, and had me wishing that I could be a part of her crew.
The side characters in this book were all fantastic as well, although Alosa's crew is only 34 people, I still found myself confusing a few of the less important characters, and it would take me a second before I figured out who we were talking about. The characters that I could recognize right away, I absolutely loved reading about! Obviously some of my favourites were Riden (and his romance with Alosa) as well as Madsy. There was definitely a lot of tear jerking moments between a few characters, but it honestly made me love the book even more.
I absolutely loved getting to know more about the siren in this book, especially more about Alosa's powers and just how she manages to develop her siren skills and learn to control herself. The plot was fantastic and there was tons of action at every step of the story. There were a few twists in the book, but they weren't anything extra crazy. It was very well written.
Overall, I highly recommend this series to all fans of pirates and fantasy adventure books. If you loved the first book in the series, then you will definitely love this one as well. I can't wait to see what Tricia Levenseller writes next.
Happy Reading,

I'm really excited for this one, I expect it to be cute and sassy and filled with adventure. I skimmed your review since I don't want to have anyone else's words in my mind when I go to read and review it but I'm so glad you loved it!

I read a negative review of this one and got some spoilers and I definitely won't be reading it! The first book was definitely my thing, but this one won't be (yikes, train wreck). I'm glad you enjoyed it - I'm sure most readers will!
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful weekend, Aneta. =)
