Book 1: Fire
Book 2: Air, Available November 28th
Book 3: Water, Coming Soon
EXCERPT:
Connell tried to drag the Elemental toward him, but she didn’t budge. Instead, she glanced at his hands. For a second, he could have sworn amusement flashed across her face. Then she was gone—wind whipping him in the face so hard it stung.
Fuck!
He turned around in a circle, scanning the air and the land around him. God, he couldn’t lose her now. He needed to get his wolf back. Not having the extra other in his head was tearing him apart. The empty space inside him was like a crawling emptiness. Sometimes, it was in his head. Other times, it was in his heart.
I can’t believe I lost her. He’d had her in his hands, and then poof. At this
point, she could be anywhere. A strangled sigh escaped from deep in his chest. It sounded pathetic and broken, even to him. He checked the house to make sure she wasn’t there, and then he walked back out to his rented jeep. Damn it, he was going to have to start tracking her all over again.
“Hey, what’s your name?”
Stunned, Connell tripped. Pivoting on his heel, he turned to see the sprite standing on a huge boulder in the distance. He was so damn surprised to see her that he lost his tongue. He just stared at her like an idiot.
Apparently, she agreed. “I can’t keep calling you tall, dark, and stupid, now can I? Whatisyourname?” she repeated, over- enunciating each word.
He was too relieved to get upset over the fact she was talking to him as if he were slow. “Connell Maitland.”
The imp turned away and started addressing the air around her, “He says he’s one of the Maitlands. American accent, so one of the Colorado ones. Yeah. It’s severe. I haven’t seen anything like it. It’s like his wolf was torn out of him somehow. He thinks we did it. Hold on a sec—” Her words broke off as Connell started to run toward her.
A gust of strong air slammed him down to the ground before he cleared the rise.
“Stay there,” the sprite ordered in a glacial tone.
Frigid as the wind, he thought as he regained his footing. Hell, everything about her should be ice-cold. Instead, he felt like he was burning up around her. It was disconcerting. So was the hard edge in her voice. That kind of steel shouldn’t be coming out of such a tiny, doll-like girl.
“Yeah, yeah. It’s fine. He’s on a leash,” the imp said a touch smugly.
Connell growled low in his throat. At least that hadn’t changed. Prey the world over would still react instinctively in fear at that sound.
But the imp didn’t even blink. And she had heard him. She just hadn’t cared. She kept on talking like some gossipy housewife on the phone. Except she was addressing no one.
“Who the bloody hell are you talking to? Invisible fairies? Can anyone even hear you?” he asked incredulously.

Review: Invaded by Melissa Landers

Series: Alienated #2
Publication Date: February 3rd, 2015
Publisher: Disney-Hyperion
Genre: YA, Romance, Aliens
Amazon ~ Goodreads ~ B&N

Synopsis: The romantic sequel to Alienated takes long-distance relationships to a new level as Cara and Aelyx long for each other from opposite ends of the universe...until a threat to both their worlds reunites them.

Cara always knew life on planet L’eihr would be an adjustment. With Aelyx, her L’eihr boyfriend, back on Earth, working to mend the broken alliance between their two planets, Cara is left to fend for herself at a new school, surrounded by hostile alien clones. Even the weird dorm pet hates her.

Things look up when Cara is appointed as human representative to a panel preparing for a human colony on L’eihr. A society melding their two cultures is a place where Cara and Aelyx could one day make a life together. But with L’eihr leaders balking at granting even the most basic freedoms, Cara begins to wonder if she could ever be happy on this planet, even with Aelyx by her side.

Meanwhile, on Earth, Aelyx, finds himself thrown into a full-scale PR campaign to improve human-L’eihr relations. Humans don’t know that their very survival depends on this alliance: only Aelyx’s people have the technology to fix the deadly contamination in the global water supply that human governments are hiding. Yet despite their upper hand, the leaders of his world suddenly seem desperate to get humans on their side, and hardly bat an eye at extremists’ multiple attempts on Aelyx’s life.

The Way clearly needs humans’ help . . . but with what? And what will they ask for in return?

My Rating
4/5 stars

My Review
“When you preach hatred, how do you expect your followers to respond?”

Cara is trying to mend the alliance between Earth and L'ehir, while she's on planet L'ehir and her boyfriend Aelyx is doing the same on Earth. Adjusting to life on L'ehir is already difficult enough with their bland food, crazy exercise routine, and advanced science classes. Whats worse is that someone is trying to frame Cara, and kill Aelyx to ensure that the alliance doesn't go through.

If planet L'ehir was real, I would be first to volunteer to go and live there (maybe not on the colony tho). Reading from Cara's point of view, I fell in love with the lifestyle of the L'ehir people. They are so focused on science, and trying to better oneself and their community, rather than gossiping or watching tv, its definitely a type of lifestyle I wish I could be a part of.

Just like the first book in the series, this one was very well written. The characters are amazing, the world-building is outstanding, and theres a thought out plot with a little bit of mystery.

I fell in love with Cara's character in the first book, but she really took me by surprise in this one. I knew she was brave and smart but this kinda took her to a new level. I get scared to leave the country alone without my parents, and this girl went to a different galaxy, without getting overly scared. Once again we get to see how smart Cara is, while she's not a genius at school anymore, she's shows her smarts in other ways, more human ways that the L'ehir couldn't always understand.

On the other hand, I found the storyline with Aelyx to be quite boring. I had a feeling on who was secretly planning the attacks on Aelyx, and I happened to guess right, which was a huge bummer because I love to be surprised. Most of his storyline in this book was just at the hotel, or parts talking about politics.

I definitely recommend this series, its tied for first place with the Lux series by Jennifer Armentrout on my Favourite Alien story list. Definitely give book one a try first.
I can't wait to read the final book in the series, although I really don't want it to end.

Happy Reading,
-Aneta

Book Blitz & Giveaway: Engaged to an Alien Pop Star by Kendra L. Saunders

Engaged to an Alien Pop Star
Kendra L. Saunders
Series: Alien Pop Star, #2
Published by: Crimson Tree Publishing
Publication date: November 28th 2016
Genres: Adult, Comedy, Romance, Science Fiction

Synopsis: Daisy Kirkwood and her best friend Kammie have adjusted to life on an alien planet pretty well, all things considered. And thanks to Daisy’s alien pop star boyfriend, Griffin Valentino, she has plenty of sexy new experiences to keep her busy. But it’s not possible to take a massive music nerd away from her home planet and not expect her to pine for a concert or a record store at least in once in a while.
Heading back to Earth with Griffin and his best friend Dev for a brief but much-needed visit, the girls want nothing more than to catch up on the underground music scene of New York City. Unfortunately, thanks to Griffin’s less-than-stellar space traveling skills, they accidentally pick up a hitchhiker. Or three hundred. Their many-legged stowaway beasties take up residence in the darkest, creepiest corners of Manhattan, leaving the gang no choice but to experience a very different underground than they bargained for.
Giant alien bugs aside, Griffin has some epic plans of his own for their trip, plans that involve a concert, an album… and the most outrageous marriage proposal that Earth has ever seen.

EXCERPT:
My boyfriend is levitating four inches above our bed, with a cloud of gold sparks floating around his head like a crown. This makes for a pretty normal morning, even with the soft snuffling and clicking noises he makes as he sleeps. And the crown is appropriate, since my boyfriend is an alien prince.
The alien prince in question, Griffin, floats back down to our bed with a yawn, stretching as he hits the blankets. He squirms around until he can slip under the blankets and wriggle closer to me. Despite sleeping uncovered, he’s toasty and warm, a sign of restorative sleep in his people. I return his embrace a bit too eagerly, my hands slipping under his nightshirt and causing him to gasp out loud. “Gods! Daisy, your hands are cold.”
“They’re not cold. They’re room temperature. But you feel nice and warm, so hold still.”
Griffin wriggles a bit more in feigned protest, but we soon settle into a comfortable position, arms and legs entwined.
“Are you excited to go back home?” Griffin asks, his voice husky with sleep as he leans up to nip at my earlobe with sharp teeth. His glowing blue eyes peer at me from under heavy lids and dark lashes, lashes that are unfairly longer than my own.
“If you keep biting my ear or looking at me like that, I’m not going to be able to go back to sleep. And yes. I’m very excited to go back to Earth.”
“Well then, don’t go back to sleep,” Griffin says, running a hand over his recently shorn dark hair. It’s always amazing to me how he can go from sleepy animal cute to dangerously sexy alien rock star in the span of seconds, depending on what he’s doing or saying. That kind of magical ability can get an Earth girl in trouble. “I have much better ideas for what we can do this morning, Wanda…”
Wanda is his pet name for me, a word in his language that means, “Love without end.” Griffin knows very well what he does to me when he calls me that.
“Do these plans involve you miraculously making chocolate appear? I miss chocolate,” I say, in a teasing tone. “When we go back to Earth, I’m going to stock up on junk food. There’s only so much healthy gray goop a girl can eat before she starts to feel like a very deprived post-divorce Gwyneth Paltrow.”
“Chocolate? Don’t be daft, Daisy, I was referring to sex.”

As a normal girl surrounded by genetically modified teenagers, all of her imperfections are on display. But after the death of her father, everything she’s ever known and loved changes in an instant.
With little skills to help provide for her family, Sienna clings to the two things that come easily—lying and stealing. But not all thief-for-hire assignments go as planned. In order to rescue her mother, there may only be one option—joining forces with the Fringe, an extremist group, and their young leader who’s too hot to be bad. Problem is, these revolutionaries aren’t what they seem, and the secrets they’re hiding could be more dangerous than Sienna is prepared for. EXCERPT:
“You need to learn a little hand-to-hand combat.” Trey puts his fists up by his face. “Always protect your soft spots—your face being numero uno.” He glances at my bandaged arm. “You right-handed?”
It’s after breakfast and we’re in the training facility, a large, gym-type room with thick mats, punching bags, weights, and a long wall of mirrors. The smell of sweat and stinky feet assault my nose as I stand across from him on the pile of black mats used to create a “ring”. We have the gym to ourselves. Most likely because everyone else is too smart to work out right after a meal.
I nod and flex my right hand, the one that’s not bandaged.
“You should be fine, then. I’ll take it easy on you.” He grins. “Go ahead—hit me.”
I take a step back and shake my head. “I’m not gonna hit you.”
He moves forward to decrease the distance between us. “I said, hit me.”
I raise my arms as if I’m about to fight him, but all I can think is how much he’s done to help me. How can I punch the man who saved me from the government facility, removed my tracker, and is willing to help rescue my mother?
When he realizes I won’t fight, he lowers his hands. “Remember, Sienna, these men don’t care that you’re a girl. They don’t care how old you are. If given the opportunity, they will hurt you.” His eyes harden. “Now hit me.”
I punch him as hard as I can, and he’s not expecting it. The force of the blow to his face knocks him backward, and my hand throbs from the impact. He looks stunned, especially when a trickle of blood makes its way out of his nose. But then he grins.
Wiping his nose on his shirt, he motions with his hands for me to come closer. “Nicely done. Now, hit me again.”
Surely, he must be crazy. I’m about to walk away, but his words echo in my mind. If given the opportunity, they will hurt you. I can’t give them that opportunity.

To save Knight, Cipher will finally stop running…one way or another.

My Rating
4/5 stars

My Review
"Having someone to lose also meant that I had something to fight for. For him. And us."

Fantastic Dystopian world, filled with loveable characters! I couldn't get enough of Cipher, absolutely stunning.

Cipher has been on the run ever since she was 8 years old. She's a Red, a she was supposed to die after being born. With special powers of being able to conduct electricity, Cipher is seen as a threat to society, and is hunted by her uncle, who wants nothing more than to see her dead.
Knight is desperate to find Cipher. The little girl who once saved his life is in danger, and all he wants to do is be able to repay that favour from when they were 8, when both their lives changed forever. Joining forces with the Shadow Raves, Knight works as double agent to get close to Cipher's location. He wasn't counting on falling in love with his childhood friend, could they have a chance at love? If they manage to both get out alive?

I am so in love with the world created by Aileen Erin, Lola Dodge, and Christina Bauer. It has a hint of the typical dystopian society, yet it takes on a brand new twist. Similar to The Giver and Divergent combined.

I absolutely love Cipher, she is a wonderful main character. She's smart, independent and caring. She has almost everything I look for in a good main character. All she wants to do is blend in, stay safe and have a chance at having a normal life. I respect and agree with all the decisions she made in this book, there wasn't a thing about her character that disappointed me.

The one problem I had with his book, is the romance. While I am so happy that this book does not have insta love, (since the characters knew each other when they were little and obviously didn't fall head over heels in love with each other then,) I wasn't a big fan of how Knight was acting towards Cipher. In the real world, if I just met a guy and within a day he was already acting like my boyfriend and being super controlling and protective of me, I would probably tell him to piss off. Knight definitely comes on super strong, almost in a way that seemed kinda creepy. The only way I would ever stick around with a guy like that is if he was supermodel hot, or maybe I was Cipher and could actually use someone's help. Near the end of the book, I finally got used to Knight's character and actually thought they would be pretty cute together. Given that he's not my type of guy, I still ship him and Cipher!

Overall, I highly recommend this book. Absolutely perfect for all dystopian and action lovers! It has a great world, great characters, and tons of potential for the rest of the series. I can't wait to read the next one.

Happy Reading,
- Aneta

EXCERPT:
We’re not at this cafĂ© for a normal lunch between a boyfriend and his loyal girlfriend. No, my dear, we’re here for an ambush. A bombshell. A catastrophic turn of events that’s about to turn my uneventful life upside down. And I’m supposed to have words at this point to speak? What are words?
“Mila…”
Ethan utters my name, but I can’t peel my gaze away from the image in front of me. My tunnel vision is focused on the small grayscale picture he slid towards me with guilty eyes a few minutes ago. The picture next to the Cobb salad that will never be eaten and next to the iced tea covered in condensation dripping down the glass, crying for me.
The picture is actually perfectly clear. They say it’s hard to make out anything but blobs of gray in these things, that you can’t see much at this point. But they say a lot of things, like that love conquers all, and all you need is love. Whoever they are, they are full of shit.
I can see everything in the picture so perfectly. The tiny button nose, the delicate fingers, the rounded belly. I can make it all out just fine.
The baby in the ultrasound picture in front of me belongs to my boyfriend.
But the baby in the ultrasound picture doesn’t belong to me.

Amelia can’t help liking him, even though she spent her childhood thinking his grandmother was a witch. And she definitely can’t ignore the connection between his arrival and the Woman in White’s return.

Then Amelia learns that the Woman in White is a prisoner, trapped between the worlds of the living and the dead. Devastated by the idea that her brother could be suffering a similar fate, Amelia decides to do whatever it takes to help the Woman in White find peace--and Charlie agrees to help her.

But when Amelia’s classmates start to drown in the Susquehanna River, one right after another, rumors swirl as people begin to connect the timing of Charlie’s arrival with the unexplained deaths. As Charlie and Amelia uncover the dark history of Asylum, they realize they may have unleashed an unspeakable evil. One they have to stop before everything they love is destroyed.

My Rating
3/5 stars

My Review
“I am a weapon, forged by fire, shaped by darkness, and destined for one purpose: Revenge”

A perfect combination of mystery and magic.

A Magic Dark and Bright is set in a small town of Asylum with a rich history. The town really reminded me of Mystic Falls from Vampire Diaries, its small and everyone knows everyone, but it has its secrets and mysteries.

This book has a very slow start, it doesn't start picking up till about 60% in. We spend a lot of time getting to know the details about Amelia's life, her past and the MacAllisters.

Amelia is an alright main character. She's very nice and sweet but at times I found her annoying, boring and unintelligent. The only thing that really impressed me about Amelia is her friendship with Leah, it really reminds me of me and my best friend, its very realistic.

My absolute favourite part was reading about Marin. She's the Woman in White who has been following Amelia around, and now she's haunting Amelia's dreams.

If it wasn't for this part of the story, I don't know if I would have finished the book. I just didn't find it interesting enough.

I still recommend it to people who are big fans of mystery and don't mind a slow beginning. I will be continuing the series just to read more about Marin.

Happy Reading,
Aneta

Synopsis: Myla Lewis has married Prince Lincoln, and now they’re expecting! All the after-realms rejoice. Myla should be happy too, but she has a serious problem. The day after their honeymoon ended, Myla’s real husband disappeared.
The man who’s sharing her bed is an imposter.
Myla tries explaining about “Evil Lincoln,” but no one will listen. The reason? People think that Myla’s supernatural pregnancy is making her cray cray. Mostly because that’s what Evil Lincoln is telling everyone, and that man’s a great liar. What a creep.
There’s no way Myla will take this lying down, though. She’s going to rescue her man, and she has a pretty good idea where he’s being held. With her best friend, Cissy, along to help, Myla sneaks off to Earth. All she has to do is blend in with the humans, avoid Evil Lincoln, and find her real man before the baby arrives. How hard can it be?
